About

Samara Matson and Kara McKamey have created a communal pottery studio in South County Rhode Island where the studio members share the responsibilities and costs of running the studio. Everyone will become proficient in loading the kiln, emptying the sink trap, mixing the glazes, and more! A gallery space showcases the work of our members during Open Studios and private appointments. A communal studio means sharing equipment, gallery space, open houses, glaze idea and come together as a community. Every member is empowered to treat the studio as their own studio. This means respecting the space, the building, the equipment, and each other. In an ideal collective ceramic work share space studio, great ideas get shared and inspire each other to create to their full potential. For this vision, we created Coastal Pottery Studio.

We are currently full, but can put you on our waitlist if you are interested in joining. If you’ve taken intermediate classes and are looking for more space and more control over your work, please contact us! We can teach you any of the technical tasks like mixing glazes and firing the kiln.
